Decent experience, minor snag

I placed an order for a used Xbox game and a few Funko Pops. The website was easy enough to navigate and the checkout process was smooth. Delivery took 6 days to reach my place in upstate New York, which was within their estimated window. The game worked perfectly, no issues there. One of the Funko Pops, however, had a slightly creased box upon arrival. It wasn't a huge deal for me since I open them anyway, but someone who keeps them in box might be a bit bummed. Customer service was responsive when I asked about tracking, which was nice. Overall, I felt it was a solid option for finding used games and collectibles, even with that small packaging issue.

Good used books!

I got a few used books from here last week. The shipping took about 5 days to get to me in Oregon, which was fine. Everything arrived in good shape, just like they said on the website. I snagged a couple of young adult fiction titles I'd been wanting to read.

Vinyl haul was awesome

Just received my order for a couple of vinyl records and they're perfect! I got a really good deal on a classic literature book too. This is my new favorite spot for collectibles. Definitely going to be ordering more soon, they have such a great selection of stuff. I told my brother about it already, he's into manga.

Hey guys, wondering if anyone knows if 2nd & Charles typically does anything for Black Friday or Cyber Monday? Trying to decide if I should hold off on a big order for some vinyls and books.

P Priya B. 2 months ago

Oh yeah, they definitely do. I remember getting some pretty sweet deals last year, especially on their used books and records. Think I even saw a BOGO type thing.

J Julia C. 2 months ago

They usually have some good sales around then, yeah. I'd wait if you can. Sometimes it's a percentage off, other times it's like specific categories get discounts. Always worth checking their emails too, that's where I usually see the best stuff.

I'm a teacher, do they offer any kind of educator discount? Trying to stock up my classroom library.

T Tom 2 months ago

Yeah, they do have an educator discount! I think you just need to show your ID or something at checkout. Worth asking when you're there.

M Mark 2 months ago

My friend who teaches uses it all the time. It's usually like 10% off, I think? You just have to present your school ID. Definitely ask at the register or customer service desk.

what's their return policy like for used books? bought a fantasy novel but realized i already own it lol.

G Greg Beaumont 2 months ago

Pretty sure they have a standard return window for used items, like 7-14 days with the receipt. As long as it's in the same condition you bought it, you should be fine.

M Megan Kaur 2 months ago

I returned a DVD a while back that was used, no problem. Just needed the receipt and I think it was within a week or two. They're usually pretty chill about it as long as you didn't trash it.

How's 2nd & Charles compare to like, Half Price Books or GameStop for used stuff? Specifically for video games and records.

D Derek Carter 2 months ago

For records, 2nd & Charles usually has a better and wider selection than Half Price Books in my experience, but prices can be a bit higher. GameStop is kinda trash for records, obviously lol. For games, 2nd & Charles is often better than GameStop for retro stuff, GameStop is more current gen. Half Price can be hit or miss.

L Laura 2 months ago

Honestly, it depends on what you're looking for. 2nd & Charles often has more curated stuff, especially unique collectibles and vinyl. Half Price Books is more about sheer volume and hunting for a gem. GameStop is... GameStop. If you want variety and good condition used items, 2nd & Charles is usually my go-to first.

Can you use trade-in credit if you're buying stuff online? Or is it just for in-store purchases?

C Cody H. 2 months ago

I've used my trade-in credit online before, yeah. It just shows up as an option at checkout. Pretty handy if you don't wanna go to the store.

A Andre B. 2 months ago

Yeah, you can. It's basically like a gift card once they process your trade-in, so it works for online orders just fine. Used mine last month to snag some retro games.
